Friday Flicks is back! Once again, EasternSurf.com’s repository for the many rad moving pictures we receive throughout the week is flush with a bunch of beautiful clips from all over, kicking this 12/9/16 edition off with…
New Jersey wahine Alexa Muss has spent the last two months preseason training on the North Shore of Oahu and at Soup Bowl in Barbados, and this evocative video produced and directed in conjunction with Monster Army sizzles with tropical flair.
Portland, OR-based adventure magazine Stay Wild ventured east last month, with owner Justin “Scrappers” Morrison teaming up with a slew of sponsors to go surfing, sneak into abandoned buildings, travel through time and dimensional portal, drink beer, ride wooden surfboards, and chill in a portable hot tub while visiting Montauk, NY. Mr. Scrappers thanks Corina Barnick, James Katsipis, Adam Walker, Jessica Altieriis, Manny Pangilinan, Sanuk, Montauk Brewing Co., The Original Nomad, Grain Surfboards, and Matador Surfboards for their hospitality. Music by Magic Sword.
Get used to seeing clips from New Hampshire media maven Ralph Fatello in this space weekly — this Marine vet, talented musician, and all-around badass never stops shooting and editing sick coldwater clips like the one below. “The 1st of December delivered some really beautiful waves to those of us who waited it out,” Ralph says. “She started out funky in the early hours but soon turned into something worth documenting. And document I did. There was some serious pounding to be dealt with at the beachbreaks. But it was worth the beatings. And believe me, everyone got beat up. The featured surfers are Kody Grondin, Max Fatello, Mikey Evans, John Singleton, Kyle Linseman, Matt Colby, Weston Rogers, and a few others. A special nod to Becca Speak, Julie Jakoboski, John Singleton, and Kody Grondin for taking a few on the head for the team. Good stuff kids. Music is by Johnny Cash and Nine Inch Nails.”
What’s a California guy like Noah Weigrich doing in this space? Well, this artsy new collaboration between Vacation Club and Vissla finds Noah, Nate Tyler, and Puerto Rico’s Dylan Graves cruising around Santa Cruz. And you know we can’t get enough of Dylan Graves’ butter-smooth charging. Carry on, gentlemen.
After this week’s Arctic cold front, let’s face it: it’s officially (but still unofficially) winter. New Jersey photographer/filmmaker Ryan Perillo captures that in-between feeling perfectly in this quick “Welcome to Winter” edit.
And finally, North Carolina hell-raisers The Nude Party, playing at Sun Bum headquarters in Cocoa Beach, fully naked. Was this from ESM’s 25th anniversary party? Another figment of our rock ‘n’ roll imagination? Or a precursor of The Nude Party’s upcoming nationwide tour, featuring 28 consecutive nights of British invasion-influenced psychedelic garage rock. You ready?
