With their very first box shipping early August, Boardbox looks to be the first ever curated box service tailored to fit the boardsport community.
“I’ve always thought the curated goods box model was pretty cool, and was really surprised when I couldn’t find a subscription box service that centered around the seasonal board sports I love. I saw a void, and wanted to do something about it”, said Christian Bryant, founder of Boardbox.
Boardbox ships their boxes containing curated goods such as apparel, tools, nutritional items, stickers, and more to its members every other month. During signup, members answer a few questions specific to their style, personal preferences, and the type of board sports they participate in. All of the product inside a Boardbox is valued at around $70+, and will cost members only $54.95. On occasion you’ll find bigger brand name items in your box, but Christian and his team are putting a bigger focus on what the smaller companies are doing.
“We want to give members exposure to all of the smaller brands out there. Boardbox will give them access to all sorts of innovative and different products from around the globe they may not normally see”, ads Christian.
Although supporting small business and turning members on to new brands and products is a huge part of what they are doing, Boardbox is on an even bigger mission to give back to the boarding communities. For every box shipped, they’ll be taking a portion of the proceeds and donating them to Surfrider Foundation, Protect Our Winters (POW), and the Tony Hawk Foundation.
“We want Boardbox to be more than just helping people find new brands to get stoked on”, said Christian. “We want to do as much we can for the guys out on the front lines helping and protecting the sports we love”.
