Words can’t begin to describe the utter devastation of Haiti in the wake of the worst earthquake the island nation has seen in over 200 years. The quake struck Tuesday just before 5 p.m. in the impoverished capital city of Port-au-Prince.
Contribute now to the massive aid effort already underway to assist the survivors and injured. You can text “HAITI” to 90999 and $10 will be instantly donated to the Red Cross via your cell phone. Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontiers, who have already set up clinics on the ground in Port-au-Prince, are accepting donations via http://doctorswithoutborders.org and ESM's Senior Photographer Ryan Miller asks you to donate to www.siloe.org. A quick Google search will reveal several other worthy organizations doing everything possible to help the people of Haiti, including former Fugee and native Haitian Wyclef Jean, who is urging people to donate $5 to his Haitian charity Yele by texting “YELE” to 501501.
There are waves in Haiti. There are also millions of people in desperate, immediate need. Some of us can do a lot; some of us can do a little. But all of us must do something.
