KISSING
CHAOS >> ENTER WITH A BULLET. FUELED BY RAMEN 2003.Fueled
By Ramen adds yet another exceptional band to its roster, this time
reaching towards the musically rich roads of Austin, TX, to bring
forth a group that surpasses even the high standards set by the likes
of label mates Blueline Medic, The Impossibles, and Cadillac Blindside
(R.I.P.)--Kissing Chaos.
Originally a collaboration between displaced members of such prominent acts as Pop Unknown, Mineral, and Sparta, Kissing Chaos' EP Enter With A Bullet spans a maelstrom of genres, including new wave and metal, resulting in a unique album that reeks of Sonic Youth, The Cure, and Slayer odors. If not done right, the obviousness of these influences alone would make for a somewhat confused and disorganized sound structure. In the case of Enter With A Bullet, however, Kissing Chaos meshes both driving and melodic guitar work with dueling vocals to control the tempo from beginning to end. Also, the overall sound quality is noticeably solid from first listen. It's incredibly polished and technically airtight enough for any release--let alone a first-time EP--to be considered a success. Traditional emotive subject matter is handled with such a decisive and strong will, it will make even the most hypersensitive wanna-be-emo kid quit sucking his thumbs. The combination of talented musicians, superb producing, and lyrical substance leaves for only one let down: the length. This little prick tease of an album is only five songs long. Five songs? I can't even get my beer-grenade rocket launcher loaded in five songs! No worries, however, as word around the "Prattboy vs. Fratboy" battlefront is Kissing Chaos purposely saved their best songs for a full-length debut album due out sometime in 2004. Ya hear that Biff, Frederick, and Montgomery? When that fateful day comes in 2004, I'm Kissing Chaos. And you're kissing aluminum. By Pratt The Terrible |
