“Winter Wave Riders” explores Nova Scotia’s vibrant winter surfing community while profiling three local hardcore surfers braving the sub-zero Atlantic Ocean in pursuit of that perfect wave.
Featuring Nova Scotia’s first and only pro surfer Nico Manos; renowned Canadian author Lesley Choyce; and Janine Strickland, co-owner and surf instructor with Lawrencetown’s One Life Surf, “Winter Wave Riders” is full of wicked waves, awesome rides and icy beaches. Be sure to tune in nationwide for a rare inside look at this rapidly growing East Coast extreme sport full of colourful characters and stunning natural scenery.
A Co-production between CBC Atlantic and Greg Hemmings of Hemmings House Pictures, “Winter Wave Riders” is directed by Eva Madden-Hagen and written by Eva Madden-Hagen and Drew Hagen.
“Winter Wave Riders” will be broadcast on Sunday March 14th, as part of CBC’s long running national program, Land & Sea, airing every Sunday at noon.
