| East Coast photographers Dick Meseroll, Tom Dugan, and Kevin Welsh made quite a bit of dough off G&S posterboy Charlie Kuhn in the '80s and '90s. But before the Surfing Magazine covershot, the ASP Top-16 berth, and the legendary Waimea charge, Kuhn was just another Cocoa Beach, FL, teenager taking advantage of everything that being a young surfstar in Hatteras had to offer. And we do mean everything. After winning both the Easterns and the U.S. Championships in 1982, he was off and running toward Proland's pearly gates. Photo: Kevin Welsh/ SurfNRG.com |
