TURF: 3rd Annual C4CW Lagoon Expression Session; November 27th, 2016; Stuart Public Beach, Stuart, FL

ENERGY: The contest featured some fun, rippable two- to four-foot windchop on tap for the competitors gathered to raise money and awareness for the work of Citizens for Clean Water, a Treasure Coast-based non-profit operated by local ripper Evan Miller. For the last few years, C4CW has spearheaded the hard work required to protect the Indian River Lagoon from harmful algae-ridden discharge disbursed from Lake Okeechobee.

FIRST TIME AT FIGHT CLUB: This was a coming-out party for Skyler Magliochetti, as she took out a stacked final in the Girls U17 division. It was also great to see Surfrider Foundation Treasure Coast Chapter back on its feet and joining forces with C4CW.

SLIDE: Competitors from all over Florida came together to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the clean-water activists at C4CW. (Consider contributing to the organization or getting involved by clicking here.) Other big division winners included Michel Flores, George Williams, Sutton Kerlin, Maddie Malizia, Zac Modelski, Mangus, and Aiden Marquis.
THE PAIN: Central Florida’s favorite “grom” and future QS competitor Chauncey Robinson was knocked out before the finals of the Pro division. In addition, South Florida’s Chase Modelski lost earlier, a blow softened by the fact that his younger brother Zac won the Groms division.
THE MAN: Ft. Pierce’s Michel Flores, a member of the Treasure Coast Watermans Club, completely destroyed the competition, finishing in 1st-place from Round One of the pro division all the way to the final. –Written by Jordan Schwarz
