WHO: The entire ESA-Outer Banks North Carolina District family.
WHAT: ESA-Outer Banks District Contest #1
WHEN: Saturday, May 22nd, 2010
WHERE: Jennette’s Pier, Nags Head, NC
WHY: For trophies, prizes, and valuable ESA points towards ESA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships berths, and eventually the ESA Eastern Surfing Championships. The ESA-Outer Banks District 2010-11 season kicked off with fun waist- to stomach-high surf, and the big turnout for Contest #1 was evidenced in many divisions being filled with several preliminary heats. Pat McManus was one of the standout surfers, claiming double wins in two of the most highly competitive divisions, Open Shortboard and Senior Men’s. Morgan-Taylor Leaval also had a great day, claiming wins in the Junior Men’s and Junior Longboard divisions, as well as narrowly placing 2nd in the Open Shortboard division. And Joe Gillen (Grandmasters, Masters Longboard) and Cayce Patterson (Ladies, Ladies Longboard) also double-dipped. Thanks to ESA-Outer Banks District Director Julie Leaval for all the info.
